Why aren't the dolls coloured black instead of the white coloured skin? We aren't white but black, therefore they should be doing more to promote our black heritage.

Pinkfunky, I like your comment, its aint from a biased point of view, considering Nicholas view, if We work hard to earn our money does it mean we cant spend it? spending it on the goodies of life will encourage those who believe in the spirit of hard word to do more because it pays.

I honestly don’t think its has gone too far, what do you want the hard working and honest individuals to do? Sit and cry over our greedy, selfish and looters leaders. They need to enjoy themselves because life is too short after all. I always tell people Mercedes Benz is a car not for everyone in the world, if you have the money to splash then you go for it and if you have more go for Maserrati, if not then go for the a cheaper brand. How one earth are we going to develop? Been privileged to travel to various continent in the world we aren’t any different to any of them, we have enough money in Nigeria but nothing to show for it, no electricity, water, good roads, education, houses for the masses to mention a few and you want the rich to suffer and not enjoy themselves if they can, after all they aren’t getting the money from our pockets.

Explorer, don't you think we are still selling our selves to white men after hundreds years of slavery. Shops over '' USA'' does have black and white mannequins on display. Nigerians fashion shop not having it is a complete joke.

Explorer, i do understant that the things i saw were in deed mannequins. The question about the percentage of nigerians having access to the so called posh saloon are in deed a very seriouse issue and has to be address. Bringing out the opportunities for those with the dreams according to you is a very important step but how will these people with dreams make profit, expand their empire and as well provide jobs to local people when the percentage of people buying the products are low? Their dreams can only come through when those mentioned above are happening and not just setting up a fashion shop and struggle to get customers into your shop. people don't neccesarrily need to be encourage to show interest in fashion, we are human being and we are now living in a more competitive world where people often go by what they see and want to be among the best. Peopl are being encourage to show interest in fashion, Why is the government not encouraging people to aim high by providing jobs opportunities with good salaries so people can afford to visite this so called posh shop too and help our economy to grow so we can walk our way out of the list of the world poorest countries. You are absolutely right, not every one visite posh shop in developed countries but the percentage of people actually having acces to this sort of shops and salons is very high and their government often encourage people to spend spend spend so the money go round and help the economy to grow. They do this by encouraging peopl to borrow money from the Banks, private lenders, good wages etc. No, i don't know how many numbers of upcoming signers that will be motivated when the episode is aired but i am keeping my fingers crossed and looking forward to that. Again the same motivated individual still have to be encourage by the general public as they rely on the public to make their business grow but how will this happen? when large number of the public are out of work and 70% to 80% if not 90% are living below the poverty line. I think these motivated individuals will have to struggle to make profit if they eren't getting large number of customers. What Nigeria government are still failing to understand is, money make the world goes round and wasn't created by the so called God most people beileive in, it was actually created by man and is very possible to make every one happy by spreading the wealth. Good luck on the next episode.

Five Quick Questions for Funmi
Q: You were in a small island with Senator Afikuyomi, commissioner for tourism. Is that the only Island in Lagos?
No there are many islands of various sizes in Lagos.

Q: Your show has been so revealing, how long did it take you to plan and to shoot everywhere including the boat?
re planning and site location for the show is a 2 month process. Recce and initial scripting 2 weeks and the entire shoot is 5 tough tightly run weeks. There is ongoing Recce and adjustment throughout the shoot and each edition is either a day long or two day shoot.

Q: Aunty Funmi, I know you are also a big girl; just curious, if you have the money, will you buy that Bentley?
I am not a big girl. I am a media entrepreneur/TV producer and personality with 15 years of hard on going work under my belt, fame is a byproduct of my profession. I would not buy a Bentley; it is out of context in our environment.

Q: Thinking of South Africa, do you also believe “Lagos is the fashion and style capital of Africa”?
Oh certainly, you see more style and attitude on the poorest person in Lagos than any city in South Africa.

Q: As a big girl concern (sigh), how much does it cost to have my nail done at nail's place? As a big girl concern (sigh), how much does it cost to have my nail done at nail's place?
I am no Lagos big girl and I usually do my nails myself or not at all.

Funmi's Diary
Wednesday May 20th 2009
I woke up feeling ill so I suppressed it but my eyes were dead and I was jumpy. Perhaps to hide the ravages, make up and wardrobe took a while but the boys surpassed themselves as you couldn't tell how poorly off I was in my energy Ankara dress from Deola Sagoe, pillar box red lips and my elaborately rolled up hair. It was fitting for the EKO FOR SHOW edition.

We arrived the lovely Carima d Laurent's nail place for the shoot and our second subject fashionista/boutique owner Vivian Chiologi had gone AWOL, fortunately Stylist Ifeoma Williams was passing through and as she is always camera ready and fun to talk with, she made a great substitute. I am sure Ifeoma goes to bed perfectly put together.

From Nail place we went to Auto Lounge to film the Bentleys, shame I couldn't drive one. Carima and I met the exotic store manager who looks and sounds like an East European runway model. I don't love cars but I like Top Gear and have fantasies of doing the guest lap and meeting the Stig.

From the Bentley shop we drove to Designers club on Awolowo road to talk with the effervescent owner Ndidi and Lighting expert Akin Ariyo who is the first man I ever saw in a wine coloured Oswald Boateng suit off the run way.

Afterwards, I changed and we met up with Senator Toks Afikuyomi, commissioner for tourism who took us on a tour of the smaller islands in Lagos. He has always is jolly and talkative. Filming at a tiny island with two guards was weird. Actually, filming this whole episode was weird as it is such a huge contrast to the life of many Nigerians. I suppose we are not just trying to capture the lifestyle of the tiny percent of the population living in this bubble but the aspiration of others to that somewhat unreal life.

My dad paid me a visit and told me a story of a couple in Badagry where he lives. It is such a medieval story and a far cry from what we had filmed two days ago. I wonder how long these extremes will continue to exist side by side and the possible break point. We finished the rest of the shoot on the famous Prest boat. Lagos on the water at night looks really beautiful.

Afterwards, I changed and we filmed the abe igi conversation with the three okada riders in front of Bonzai the upscale Japanese restaurant in Victoria Island. I cannot seem to get away from those extremes and the unease I feel so I decided to untie the knots in my stomach with a memorable night out with the boys to NEWSCAFE.
